Oakshott Giveaway (because my machine hates me)

My Precious, Bernina is in the shop.

It hit the 2 million stitch mark, and then it gives me a little icon that I need to pet my baby, tuck it in and put it in the shop for some special attention.

I have a back up.  An older Bernina.

So far, it hates me.
I can't get the bobbin tension right.
My seams are all over the place.
I am screwing up blocks left and right, and seam ripping my heart out.

Seam Ripping Tools
There was some crying and some throwing of fabric, but that isn't very effective in relieving stress.

I haven't completed a single block IN A WEEK.

Today I take the machine apart and clean it really well.
Put in a new bobbin with new thread.  Give it a good pep talk.
And start all over.
Again.  The wine is standing by.

IN THE MEAN TIME
SO YOU HAVE A BETTER DAY THAN ME,
A GIVE AWAY!!!!!

I have a fat 8th bundle from Oakshott Cottons to give away!  YAY!  I may enter myself!

My Giveaway is  from the  Oakshott Ruby Red collection.

A Collection of 12 fat 8ths which all share a Ruby Red Warp.

The Actual Bundle you will WIN!

What is a Warp you may ask?  As I did (no, it isn't from Star Trek, which is the first thing I think of with the word 'warp').

Some things we should know!

Michael at Oakshott Fabrics is super friendly and will answer any of your email questions promptly.

This is a beautiful bundle, and I can't wait to pass it to some lucky someone.  These colors work so well together, they are dark and delicious!

I am working on my own Oakshott quilt top - which has come to a halt until the machine situation is rectified or my Precious is returned from the Bernina Dr.

Good Luck!
Rules!  (there must be rules or anarchy will happen, dogs and cats will marry, utter chaos)
1.  Follow my blog!
2.  Leave a comment to enter!
Have you tried any Oakshott Cottons yet?
3.  One entry per person, please!
4.  Open 10/26 - 10/30.  Drawing 10/31 by random # generator.

Well, I'm up first! I'm a follower! I've never tried Oakshott but I've been wanting to try them! Thanks for a chance to win some. Hopefully your machine will be nice to you today!

I'm a follower! I have not used oakshot, but I've used kaffes shot cottons. Love the look. Btw, my Bernina is pretty temperamental too. Change your thread. Mine doesn't like coats and Clarke and sometimes aura fil!! Try metzler or geutermann. My machines favorite seems to be essentials. Good luck

I'm a happy follower!
I've used Oakshott fabrics before - in fact I live about 12 miles from Michael's shop!

Awww, sorry about Precious. It's moments like the ones you describe regarding your old Bernie, when my sister will look at me and say something like "this seems like a fun hobby".
I'm a follower and I've never used the Oakshotts, but they look absolutely scrumptious.

I follow you. I have not tried Oakshott Fabrics. I want to. And will someday. Is there anywhere local that sells them? I don't have a Bernina but have heard the same thing about the threads. Try a different one. Hopefully your other one will get paroled soon.

I hope you know I stalk you. . I mean follow you. ♥ And Shelly introduced me to these. . I think that's what she sent.

Ah, yes, nothing like having your machine in the shop to realize how dependent you are on it keeping you sane...

Love red and this collection really appeals to me. Never knew about the warp thing nor have heard of Oakshott, so would love the chance to work with them!

I follow, quite merrily in fact. I haven't tried any OakShott, but I adore the look of them, just wish a local store would carry them. So sorry to hear about your machine, but thank you for making our day a little brighter with the giveaway!

OMG! DO you have a second machine to use as a back up?? I think I would go get the DT's if my machines went down!! (lol) Hopefully a local repair shop will have it back in a snap! I drool over Oakshot Cottons but have not used them..They look gorgeous! Thanks for a chance to win...

I follow you! I knew what a warp is, only because my mom and grandma used to teach weaving back in the 70's . . . but I am not a practicer of weaving. But the Reds look awesome! I finally have a back-up sewing machine . . . still prefer to sew on my ancient brother made out of cast iron or something.

The wine is a good idea...get that baby working before the storm hits! Can we have a hurricane party at your house if we lose power? I need to sew but don't much feel like after my massage. Oh, BTW...PICK ME!

I'm a follower! I have not never tried Oakshott, but it looks lovely.

I know how you feel. I haven't had my machine serviced in about 5 years, because I can't bear to be without it for 2 weeks!

Of course I follow your blog and I love Oakshotts but I don't have the ruby red bundle yet. I would love to win that bundle, thank you for the chance. I do hope you can get that back up machine working nicely and that your other one gets out of the shop soon.

Oh how I hate it when the machine decides it needs a vacation. I am a new follower and have not tried Oakshot but have used Kaffe F shot cottons-- these reds are gorgeous! thanks for the chance to win and good luck with your machine!

No, I haven't tried them, only looked and coveted! They look so beautiful, I would love to give themm a go, please!

I am sorry your older machine is sulking. It probably needs a reaauring talk from you, to tell it that it has not been usurped, you just thought it would like a holiday, but now, it could really help you out for a bit!

Oh bless you, fingers crossed the special one returns back from its holiday soon and you can get back to some serious sewing! Ange x

I haven't used Oakshott yet. Although I do pet the screen a bit every time I see someone post with them.

I am a follower!

I have an older machine that acts up too. I keep telling myself I should buy a new backup but that just seems silly. I do hope your baby comes home soon!

I'd love a chance to win! I'm a happy follower that lurks. My Bernina hasn't been temperamental at all. Did you try taking the cover off the left side of the head? Maybe there is some thread stuck in there. I use only Aurifil or Mettler (applique only) but I've gotten thread caught up in there before. I hope the issues are quickly resolved.

I would love a chance to win, those fabrics look lovely and I haven't tried Oakshotts yet. I am a follower!

Mary,
I'm a new follower! But we've been spending some time together in the running with scissors bee. :) I haven't tried Oakshott but would love a chance to try them!

I'm a new follower!

My Bernina only likes Gutermann thread, and as long as I use that, it's always super happy. Hopefully you're up & sewing again soon! And I hear ice cream is better than wine in these situations! :)

I'd love some Oakshott! Several of the ladies in my quilt guild went in together and bought a bunch, and let me touch it, and it is so amazing! As I understand it, you can only get it directly from them in England, and they have a pretty high minimum order. But it's so lovely! Thanks for the chance to win such a generous giveaway!

Hi. I follow you. I've never tried Oakshotts, though they look yummy. Sorry about your Bernies; I've only heard good things about them. I'm sure they'll both (along with you) be okay :)
